IAFF Local 421 members are committed to serving and protecting the community of Lansing, Michigan. Members and leadership are determined to be a top local union in the state, reducing benefit tiers, fighting for a fair wage, and maintaining or improving safe rig staffing levels. Our membership is continuing to grow, and we are pleased to have over 95% of our membership who are a part of our local. Lansing fire department members run over 25,000 calls annually with 6 stations, 6 engines, 2 ladder trucks, 5 medic units, and 1 battalion chief staffed daily. Local 421 is the 2nd largest local in the MPFFU with nearly 200 active paying members. Union leadership maintains constructive and positive relationships with our fire board delegates and city commissioners. Local 421 continues to grow and look to the future to better our members' time working for LFD.
